The Detroit Auto Show saw some great new concept cars this January, but one of the most talked about was Hyundai's new HCD-15 Concept a.k.a the Santa Cruz. This new "trucklet" is an interesting combination of crossover and pickup truck that is being specifically marketed to Millennials.

"The Santa Cruz crossover truck concept meets the unspoken needs of a growing Millennial lifestyle we call 'Urban Adventurers,'" said Hyundai Corporate Planning Director Mark Dipko. "This new crossover allows them all the expandable utility they need throughout their active week, from work-life professionalism, to social interests, to a whole variety of outdoor pursuits, without the typical compromises they have come to expect from the industry's current product offerings."

Style-wise, the new Santa Cruz should be a terrific car for those who want the utmost in utility. The crossover sports rear-hinged half-doors that provide access to the backseat, while the large cabin can fit up to five people comfortably. The Santa Cruz should also be quite powerful. Hyundai says the production model of the crossover will boast a 2.0-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine that rates at 190 horsepower and 300 lb.-ft. of torque. The truck will also feature HTRAC all-wheel drive. On top of that, Hyundai says that the Santa Cruz has the same footprint of a small crossover; it's smaller size makes it easy to park in tight spaces and navigate small city streets.

The Korean automaker hopes to have a production-ready model come out in the next year or so. Stop by Camelback Hyundai today to learn more about this exciting new crossover and when you can expect it to arrive in Phoenix.
