Android Auto is getting ready to make its debut across the automotive market and Hyundai is one the latest brands to sign on for the program. A technology that will allow drivers to utilize their smartphone via Hyundai's touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto will give users access to all of their favorite features from the comfort of their car. Scheduled to make its introduction in the 2015 lineup, the program will be offered in select models. This new comes just a few months after the automaker announced the inclusion of Apple CarPlay, a similar smartphone program, in the 2015 Sonata.
Upon its arrival, Hyundai owners will be able to use Android Auto just by connecting their android phone via a USB port. The car's touchscreen display will then serve as the gateway to the phone's list of apps, which includes messaging, phone and Google Play Music. Additional apps such as iHeartRadio and NPR will also be available, as well as voice activation. Users will be able to input directions using Google Maps with just their voice, eliminating in-car distractions.
Hyundai will announce which cars in their lineup will receive Android Auto within the next coming months. Each model equipped with the technology will be available for purchase at Camelback Hyundai following their release.
