Car Oil Types

What Types of Engine Oil Are There?

There are several different types of motor oil that your vehicle can use. From synthetic to conventional oil, the product you choose is determined by a number of factors. The area that you live in, the way that you drive, the mileage you've accumulated, and the age of your engine will all influence which may be best to use. Our certified automotive technicians can assist you with identifying which may be ideal, but you should also refer to the manual that came with your vehicle.

Full Synthetic Motor Oil

When you're looking for a product that can provide you with optimal performance and ultimate lubrication, full synthetic motor oil is the way to go. You'll be able to achieve higher viscosity levels, more resistance to oxidation and better protection against thermal breakdown. You may even see an improvement in your motor's efficiency.

Full synthetic motor oil can be a more expensive option on the market, but it's often worth the investment. If you're currently living and driving in a climate that has very cold weather in the winter or extremely hot weather in the summer months, synthetic offers ample protection. Older vehicles also benefit from this option.

Synthetic Blend Motor Oil

You get multiple benefits from synthetic blend oil. With a mixture of synthetic and conventional oils with additives thrown in, you'll achieve better protection for your engine from thermal breakdown than conventional oil.  If you've been using conventional oil, you can easily switch to a synthetic blend.

Conventional Motor Oil

One of the most commonly used motor oils on the market, conventional oil is perfect for light-duty vehicles that travel low to moderate distances. A traditional engine design will benefit from this product, especially if you live in an area where seasonal temperatures don't move much from one extreme to another.

High Mileage Motor Oil

If you have a vehicle that has surpassed more than 75,000 miles, then high mileage oil is something you should consider. This is a product which can assist with reducing oil consumption and reduce your emissions output. Since high mileage oils include special seal conditioners they can also assist in minimizing leaks.
