2023 Hyundai Tucson SE vs 2023 Hyundai Tucson SEL
Hyundai dubs the Tucson its modern adventure SUV. It's compact in size but big in features and exterior personality. The Tucson is available with HTRAC all-wheel drive and up to 187 horsepower, two features that will endear it to people who appreciate solid performance even from a compact SUV. The SE and SEL trims are the beginning of everything for this model and offer different feature-rich builds.
Performance
An SE and SEL trim both come with a 2.5L engine rated at 187 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. They also run with a 7-speed automatic with SHIFTRONIC technology. That tech leaves room for the manual-type operation of your transmission. HTRAC all-wheel drive is available for both models, but the SE has a slimmer starting price. If performance is what you're really after, these two models are virtually identical in performance and leaves room for budgeting.
Appearance
Hyundai loves its geometrical shapes built into the side panel of the Tucson, and this year is the most highly decorated Tucson yet. If you love that look, you'll love both the SE and SEL. However, standard exterior features differ here, including standard heated side mirrors for the SEL but not the SE. The SEL also gets additional features like LED turn signal indicators on its side mirrors. If you prefer a more outdoorsy SUV, the SEL adds roof-side rails to its appearance.
Features
The Tucson SE and SEL both come with great standard features like an 8-inch touchscreen display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and HD radio. The comfort and technology features differ significantly. The SEL comes with wireless device quick charging, two second-row USB ports, and a push-button start. While the SE is a very nice trim with perks like a dual-level cargo floor and tidy cloth seats, it lacks those three main features of the Tucson SEL interior. Both trims are excellent in safety features and come with standard forward collision avoidance with pedestrian, junction turning, and cyclist detection. Driver attention warning is also on both models.
The 2023 Tucson is one of the most accessible compact SUVs in America and has a comfortable design.
