Hyundai recently scored a big victory at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway 120, finishing in the top two places. The victorious finish was the first win of the racing season for both drivers, and Hyundai also raised money for charity in the process.
With the Indianapolis Motor Speedway 120 win, Hyundai increased its 2024 IMSA Michelin Pilot Championship (IMPC) Manufacturers' Championship lead. The winning team consisted of Mason Filippi and Mark Wilkins, who drove the No. 98 Hyundai Elantra N TCR. While the win was a first for both drivers, it was Hyundai's third win of the 2024 season. Coming in close second was the No. 33 car driven by Robert Wickens and Harry Gottsacker.
Along with its impressive wins, Hyundai also set a new first at the Indianapolis event by unveiling sophisticated hand-control driving technology used by paraplegic driver Robert Wilkins. The technology is an advanced hand control system that allows for more consistent braking, quicker response times, and more advanced safety technology. With this new technology, Wilkins is able to use his own body to control the car more effectively.
Hope on Wheels Donation
Hyundai's Indianapolis Motor Speedway 120 victory meant more than just prizes for the winning drivers. Hyundai announced it would donate $100 to a charitable organization called 'Hope on Wheels' for every lap that Hyundai Elantra N TCR led during the racing season. At Indianapolis, Hyundai N TCR vehicles had 67 leading laps, which raised a total of $6,700 for Hope on Wheels.
