Hyundai is a leader in the automotive industry for many reasons. Along with its reputation for producing reliable, safe, and value-oriented cars, Hyundai also excels at racing, as evidenced by its victory at the Virginia International Raceway. Hyundai's accomplishments helped the automaker extend its Manufacturers' Championship lead in the 2024 IMPC series.
Double Podium Victory
At the Virginia International Raceway, Hyundai was proud to receive its sixth double-podium result. The Racing Team Hyundai Elantra N TCR recorded the best finish of the season, which helped Hyundai earn its coveted rewards. When the race concluded, Hyundai earned the top three out of four places in the Manufacturers' Championship with its No. 33 and No. 99 vehicles.
Morgan Burkhard drove the No. 99 vehicle as part of the Victor Gonzalez Racing Team (VGRT). The team kept up an impressive pace over the two-hour course. Ultimately, the car finished in second place. The No. 33 vehicle was led by drivers Robert Wickens and Harry Gottsacker. The drivers managed to bring the vehicle into a third-place victory. However, the win was impressive enough to move vehicle No. 33 into the 2nd place position for the IMPC Drivers' Championship.
Top Finishes for Hyundai
Hyundai ultimately earned second place for its No. 99 vehicle under the Victor Gonzalez Racing Team using a Hyundai Elantra N.
The top qualifying Hyundai was also a Hyundai Elantra N, which Taylor Hagler and Bryson Harris drove.
What's Next for Hyundai?
After the prestigious IMPC Competition, Hyundai is now a 60-point leader in the Manufacturers' Championship. Next, the team is scheduled to appear at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway 120, which will take place on Sept. 21, 2024.
