The Hyundai Smart Key Fob is a recent innovation in the Hyundai line of vehicles. The key is "smart" because it can remotely connect to your vehicle and start it automatically without using a physical key. This is convenient for a host of drivers who are in a hurry and don't want the extra hassle of sticking a key in the ignition to make the vehicle go. Thanks to Hyundai's genius, you can use a Smart Key. Unfortunately, sometimes you're faced with a dead Smart Key. Usually, your Smart Key performs a variety of remote functions: Locking and unlocking doors, starting the vehicle, opening the trunk, and initiating a panic button. When it's dead, it's dead, so what do you do?
How To Start A Hyundai With a Dead Smart Key Fob

If your smart key is dead, you can still start your car. That's the good news. And the even better news is that there are a ton of ways - 6 in all - that you can use to start your car if the Smart Key is dead.
- Insert into Smart Keyholder and press the start/stop ignition button while pushing down on the brake
- Press the start/stop ignition button while depressing the brake, with no insertion of the key into the Smart Key Holder (this works on some newer models)
The first option has a variety of different paths to success because the Smart Keyholder could be in a different location depending on the model. For some, the holder is in the center console; for others, it's in the glove box. It's important to read your manual and locate your Hyundai Smart Key holder location because, for some models, it will be the key to starting your vehicle when your Smart Key is dead. Of course, the easiest way to start your vehicle will always be to ensure your Smart Key is up and running; if it isn't, get a new one immediately.
