A few months ago Hyundai went looking for a younger, more millennial-focused voice to represent the automaker and it looks like they've finally found him.
Comedic actor, Paul Rudd, most known for his roles in the Anchorman movies, will be replacing longtime spokesman, Jeff Bridges, as the new pitchman for the automaker.
"We were looking for a voice that could be recognizable and relatable to a new generation of car buyers," said Steve Shannon, vice president of Marketing, Hyundai Motor America. "Rudd can be serious, humorous, informative and entertaining all at the same time."
Automakers have been trying for years to find new ways to appeal to the young, millennial shopper as they begin to buy their first cars. Examples of recent attempts include Matthew McConaughey, fresh off his recent McConaissance, who was tapped this year to be the new voice of Lincoln.
But Rudd seems to be an even better choice as the actor is known for his reach into the younger Gen-Y market. From Anchorman to Clueless to the new superhero move, Ant-Man, Rudd has his finger on the pulse of the millennial generation.
Check out the video below to see Rudd's first Hyundai commercial. It's a pretty clever spot, as it shows off the many safety and tech features of the 2015 Sonata. Let's hope that Hyundai continues these funny, irreverent-themed commercials so we can see Rudd do the comedic magic he is known for.
