Test mules of the new 2016 Hyundai Elantra have been seen driving around town these past few weeks, and we are getting very excited about the various new features and upgrades that the sedan may sport, including a new body style, a possible turbocharged engine and increased handling.
Looking first at the new body frame, it seems like the 2016 Elantra will be styled more around Hyundai's new "Fluidic Precision" design. Test mules indicate that the Elantra will have straighter lines than its predecessors that are reminiscent of the awarding-winning Hyundai Genesis, especially when you look at the new larger grille. Don't worry Elantra lovers, the sleek, coupe-like outline of the older models is still in place, but with a much more mature aesthetic that will undoubtedly win this sedan many new fans.
There probably won't be many big changes to the Elantra's powertrain with the current 1.8-liter four and 2.0-liter GDI engines carrying over to this newest model year. Some sources are reporting that a smaller, turbocharged engine might be added to the options list, which may be similar to the EcoBoost engine that has already proven to be a successful option.
A revised suspension may also be in the works as well as a new steering setup that should give the 2016 Elantra even better handling, especially around tight corners and twisting roads.
The 2016 Hyundai Elantra should be arriving in Phoenix sometime next year. But if you can't wait until next year to get behind the wheel of a new Elantra, head on down to Camelback Hyundai and test drive the 2015 Hyundai Elantra in Phoenix today!
