The Hyundai Ioniq is available in several hybrid variations, but the all-electric version has captured the attention of many buyers. As the popularity of electric cars increases across the country and beyond, the reboot of this model as an all-electric brand is timely. Models under the new Ioniq brand will utilize Hyundai's Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). They'll also include the latest versions of other current Ioniq features.
Today's Ioniq receives 134 horsepower from an interior-permanent magnet synchronous motor. It has regenerative brake capabilities combined with control paddles and a speed reduction gear. It will get you 170 miles on a full charge, which the forthcoming Ioniq models will likely meet or exceed, particularly the sedan and crossover. Related performance equipment includes front-wheel drive, an on-board charger, shift-by-wire drive selection, a coupled torsion beam axle, four-wheel disc brakes, gas shock absorbers and coil springs in the front and more.
The Ioniq also offers modern appeal with a well-equipped interior that includes a navigation system with a 10.25-inch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Blue Link, wireless device charging, USB ports and many more features. Again, we expect the upcoming EV models to show off the latest versions of these and other amenities.
