Your car’s battery is something that most people don’t think about very often, causing many drivers to ignore the various signs that tell them their battery is about to quit. To help avoid an uncrankable car, we listed out a few common warning signs that your battery is almost out of juice.
Sign #1 Check Engine Light is on. This one is pretty common, but many people ignore their check engine lights, thinking their car probably just needs an oil change. A lot of the time though, it’s telling you that your battery power is weak and that you might need a replacement.
Sign #2 Your engine is slow to crank. You see this one a lot in movies, but if you have to turn your car key several times before your engine will turn over, then your battery is probably to blame.
Sign #3 You see a battery leak. If you notice that your car’s battery is starting to leak (you’ll see signs of corrosion if it is), it might not be low on power, but the material may be blocking the necessary connections to make the battery start. Bring your car to our service center and our technicians will clean away that gunk to ensure your battery will always start.
Sign #4 Your battery case is bloated. Swelling or bloating of your battery case can indicate excess heat is trapped. This can significantly decrease your battery’s life, causing it to go out well before its time. If you see any signs of swelling bring your car in for service.
