2016 Tucson and 2016 Sonata Earn Top Safety Pick+ Awards

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has just awarded the 2016 Hyundai Tucson and 2016 Hyundai Sonata Top Safety Pick+ awards.

The Top Safety Pick+ awards are given to vehicles that pass the IIHS’ rigorous safety tests, including moderate overlap front, roof strength, head restraints and small overlap front. Winning vehicles must also have an available front crash prevention system that earns a top rating from the safety experts.

“Hyundai’s commitment to occupant safety is paramount throughout our entire lineup,” said Mike O’Brien, vice president, Corporate and Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “We strive to develop technologies that assist in avoiding crashes all together, like forward collision warning, lane departure warning and emergency brake assist, and are pleased the Tucson and Sonata have received these awards related to occupant protection when collisions do occur.”

There are multiple advanced safety features available on both the Tucson and the Sonata, making them top choices among family car shoppers around Phoenix. These systems include rear cross-traffic alert, backup warning sensors, a backup camera, lane departure warning, a tire pressure monitoring system and blind spot detection.
