2015 Sonata Earns Family Car Award from 'US News'

“US News & World Reports” has named the 2015 Hyundai Sonata the “Best Midsize Car for Famlies.” Known for their precise and studied rankings of everything from cars and schools to jobs and travel, “US News” called out the Sonata’s comfortable and roomy interior, as well as its family-friendly features and smart tech amenities.

“The Sonata has a comfortable cabin with plenty of room for five. Features like Hyundai’s BlueLink telematics system allow you to control and monitor some of the Sonata’s features and performance from your smartphone, giving parents of teen drivers some peace of mind,” the outlet said on its website.

The Best Midsize Car award is part of a larger awards system from the organization: their annual Best Family Car awards. Ongoing since 2007, these awards looks at many different vehicle categories to see which car is the best in each segment. This is the first year that the Sonata took home the gold, beating out many of its midsize competitors like the Ford Fusion and the Mazda6.

This is not the only award that has come the Sonata’s way this year. The 2015 model has also been named "Best Family Car" by Kelley Blue Book, earned Top Safety Pick awards from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and awarded the prestigious Good Design Award from the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design.

“Being named Best Midsize Car for Families by US News & World Report is a tremendous honor and demonstrates Sonata’s ability to outdo the expectations family buyers have in this segment,” said Mike O’Brien, vice president of corporate and product planning for Hyundai Motor America.
