Working with the powertrain maestros at Bisimoto Engineering, Hyundai has created an unbelievable powerhouse in their 2015 Sonata that will rate at 708 horsepower. This new Sonata will be the most powerful version of the car yet and offer even more horsepower than the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat (which has claimed 707hp).
To achieve this astonishing horsepower, engineers started with the 2015 Sonata's already amazing 2.4-liter inline-four cylinder engine, which they tweaked with "a combination of strengthened internal components - forged pistons, connecting rods, a high-revving valve train and camshafts - a high-boost turbocharger, and a fast-burning, flex-fuel diet," with power funneled through a six-speed manual gearbox.
Other upgrades to the new powerful Sonata include custom laminated body wrap, a racing harness, an aero kit and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Last year, the Bisimoto team made a huge splash at the SEMA show with the reveal of a 1000 horsepower Genesis coupe and this year they are even more excited to give the Sonata this gorgeous power boost.
"With a proven and efficient 2.4-liter engine as a starting platform and a sophisticated, sleek, four-door design, the 2015 Sonata was the perfect candidate for this year's build," said Bisi Ezerioha, owner and chief engineer, Bisimoto Engineering. "Outrageous power is nothing without reliability, and it was a firm goal to retain the reliability that Hyundai is known for."
Hyundai and Bisimoto are expected to release 18 new 708 horsepower Sonatas next year, though primarily to collectors and industry mavens. But shoppers looking for a 2015 Hyundai Sonata in Phoenix will find a wide selection of this "sophisticated and sleek" sedan right here at Camelback Hyundai.
