There are many different components that are needed to keep a car up and running, but what happens when you're fresh out of one of them and you're in the middle of a big race? That's the situation WRC driver Thierry Neuville found himself in when his car's radiator was leaking during the middle of a Rally Mexico run and he was completely out of coolant to refill it. Thinking of ways to repair the situation and get back in the race, Neuville found the next best thing to use in place of coolant: beer.
As a part of Hyundai's Motorsport team, Neuville and his co-driver, Nicolas Gilsoul, are dedicated to every race they participate in, so when a problem arises in the middle of one, they'll do whatever they can to fix it. Their choice to use beer as an alternative for coolant during Rally Mexico is just an example of one of these incidents, and they got the idea after being awarded a bottle of Corona from the event's co-sponsors once they finished the final power stage portion of the weekend-long race . The pair admitted to WRC's official website that they were worried it wouldn't be enough to allow them to finish the race, but sure enough, they were able to complete the last 15.5 miles with no problems.
To add to their luck, Neuville and Gilsoul didn't just finish the race, they also nabbed the first podium for Hyundai in the WRC, proving the brand is a top competitor. If you're interested in getting your very own Hyundai, you can check out our full lineup of models at Camelback Hyundai.
