The Hyundai Genesis Coupe has always stood out from its sedan counterpart, appearing more like a sports model than the Genesis' equally luxurious sister. For years, it has featured slightly different styling from the sedan, but according to a source at Hyundai, this could be changing very soon. Australia's Go Auto recently reported the news after speaking with an insider at the brand about the Genesis Coupe's future. The source revealed that there's a chance the 2016/17 Genesis Coupe model could fully embody the Genesis' design, shedding its athletic build and emerging as a true luxury coupe.
All-new for 2015, the second-generation Genesis is a remarkable piece of machinery and an identical twin two-door coupe version of the sedan would be a great addition to Hyundai's lineup. If the model is revised as intended, there's talks that it may also offer a V-8 engine for the first time and be touted as a four-seater, giving it the edge it needs to compete against big name luxury cars such as the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe and BMW 6 Series. As of now, no news about the changes has been officially confirmed, but we're interested in seeing where this info goes and hope Hyundai releases a statement regarding the future of the Genesis Coupe in the next coming months.
